This was a fascinating film to "see" the roots of the Western education system and the long-term impact it has within local communities. I am wondering if the film is idealizing the local cultures too much. The film explains that they have been sustainable, but doesn't explain any long-term negative impacts of local culture on women's rights, treatment of minorities, and healthcare. I don't think that these points take away from the film's message, but only to show that removing of the Western influence doesn't automatically make everything "better."
